About

I am Janet Southcott, living on the west coast of British Columbia, Canada; a Gemini with twin passions: art and writing.

I paint in a corner of our dining room and walk back and forth, 15 feet or so, to the end of the kitchen to get a better perspective of the pictures emerging from my canvas. This way I also have the benefit of unsolicited advice from family and friends just when I need it most.

I use a variety of medium: acrylic, oil, watercolour, graphite, pen, charcoal and soft pastel. I am inspired by the macro and the micro and everything in between. Therefore, you will find mountain landscapes alongside part of a kale leaf, rocky shorelines alongside a bird enjoying a water bath.

I paint what I am most passionate about. I occasionally take commissions, however, the subject of those commissions needs to fulfill my own interests, too.

I can be reached through the Contact tab. Please reach out, I would love to hear from you.
